The word “Lagom” comes from the Swedish proverb ‘lagom är bäst’ (just enough is best). Lagom has been also a typical lifestyle of Swedish for a long time. Inspiration from that typical lifestyle combined with the owner’s desire for a home is the main factor shaping the design. This element appears in the very personal and intimate sharing stories of homeowners about the needs that form a home of their own. A place to start for new things, just enough for function and area of use, just enough geographical distance to reconcile relationships in life.
With the concept of creating “just enough”/“lagom” for space, balancing “not too much” and “not too little”, we have considered keeping what is enough to meet the needs of use and seeking to be neat in design lines, minimalizing in the use of materials and light for functions and aesthetics of the spatial design.
The existing condition is an unfurnished house with sufficient size. The design solution is to create open spaces for indoor areas. The kitchen and living room are connected but still separated by curved arches. Curves are used as a decisive factor in creating aesthetic, masking the weakness of the house and connecting functional spaces.
The design focuses on serenity, simplicity and essentials with just the right amount of furniture, clean lines with large curves that both separate spaces and create strong accents, pure natural materials. Simple and simple, encapsulated in 3 main types: grinding concrete, wood, white wall color as the main background. The space becomes streamlined, blending with the green color of the tree, creating a feeling of peace, lightness, and warmth.
