Pocket Garden Apartment was transformed from a raw handover condition into a personal retreat for a single, elegant homeowner who seeks clarity and calm through a lifestyle of refinement and restraint.
Drawing inspiration from the Vietnamese wooden platform (sập gỗ), the kitchen island and wooden podium serve as the central hub — a place to sit together, converse, or simply share presence. Above, the curved ceiling and eaves reinterpret vernacular architecture, softening the rigid geometry and evoking familiarity within the modern apartment.
The floor plan follows a streamlined approach: the dining table is omitted, allowing the kitchen island to take its place; the living area opens fully to a small garden; and the bedroom reduces storage to create space for a larger bed and a compact reading corner.
Natural wood and handcrafted terrazzo define the material palette, offering warmth, tactility, and a sense of craft. Combined with natural light and greenery, the apartment becomes a “small resort” within the city. Most importantly, it reflects the collaboration and trust between the elegant homeowner and the design team, resulting in a space that mirrors the owner’s lifestyle and spirit.
